Eating in any areas above the ground floor is not allowed,  hot or cold drinks in sealed cups are permitted throughout the building. This policy is intended to maintain the very high quality of the new environment. We hope everyone will feel proud of our new Library and will want to keep it looking great. This approach is exactly the same as you will find in virtually every university library in this country. Thousands of people enter the Library every day, and accidents are bound to occur. Our design strategy from the outset of this project has been to provide one floor where there are excellent catering facilities, and not to allow eating and drinking, apart from bottled cold drinks, or hot drinks in keep cups that have a screw type lid, this to limit the chances of accidental spillage.
